Girl Scouts of Nassau County Honors Bellmore Residents

Event Recognizes Outstanding Girl Scout Champions Whose Volunteerism Has Left a Lasting Impact on Girls All Over Nassau County

Girl Scouts of Nassau County (GSNC) recently honored Bellmore residents Anna Hartwig, Maria Kotanidis, Tami Low-Glass, Joan Monastero, Lisa Pantelis, Lynn Spahn and Elizabeth Steinert, at its 2024 Annual Adult Recognitions Award Ceremony and Dinner. The annual event, which was held at the Inn at New Hyde Park on March 21, recognizes and celebrates the adult volunteers for their service to Girl Scouts of Nassau County and to their communities. Hartwig, Kotanidis, Low-Glass, Monastero, Pantelis, Spahn and Steinert were among 110 honorees throughout Nassau County.

โ€œIt is because of the hard work and dedication of all our volunteers, that Girl Scouts of Nassau County can provide impactful leadership opportunities for girls in our area. Each of our Adult Recognitions Honorees has made a significant impact on our organization and help spread the Girl Scout mission,โ€ said Randell Bynum, the CEO of Girl Scouts of Nassau County. โ€œThanks to their contributions, we can continue building girls of courage, confidence and character, who continue to make this world a better place.โ€

Hartwig and Low-Glass were awarded the GSUSA Appreciation Pin which recognizes an individualโ€™s exemplary service in support of delivering the Girl Scout Leadership Experience to at least one geographic area of service.

Kotanidis was awarded the GSNC Courage, Confidence & Character Certificate for Volunteers. This award recognizes those that have exercised major efforts to be pioneers for instilling courage, confidence and character into the young girls of their Girl Scout troop.

Monastero was awarded the GSUSA Thanks Badge II which honors an individual whose ongoing commitment, leadership, and service have had an exceptional, measurable impact on meeting the mission-delivery goals and priorities of the entire council or the entire Girl Scout Movement.

Pantelis and Steinert were awarded the GSNC Longevity Award which is presented to Girl Scout leaders that have championed their girls from Daisies all the way through Ambassadors, providing them with a comprehensive Girl Scout experience.

Spahn was awarded the 25 Year Service Pin and 30 Year Tenure Pin. The 25 Year Service Pin serves to recognize an adult member registered with Girl Scouts of the USA for their volunteer service , while the 30 Year Tenure Pin recognizes an adult member 30 total years of service in Girl Scouts. Both of these distinctions are some of the highest honors for a Girl Scouts alum.
