Ground Stop Issued At JFK Saturday Night: FAA

The ground stop was reportedly issued due to security operation, the Federal Aviation Administration's National Airspace System Status says.

NEW YORK — A ground stop was issued at John F. Kennedy International Airport Saturday night, officials said.

According to the Federal Aviation Administration's National Airspace System Status page, a ground stop was issued at 9:31 p.m.

"Departures to John F Kennedy International are grounded due to military operations," the page said. "Probability of extension is medium (30-60 percent)."

The grounding applied to departures from ZOB, or the Cleveland Air Route Traffic Control Center in Oberlin, Ohio.

JFK was also seeing ground delays of up to 155 minutes Saturday night due to thunderstorms,the FAA page said.
