It’s a Wonderful World in Uniondale

Uniondale Celebrates Completion of 2019 Summer Arts Program with a Live Performance

Uniondale, N.Y. -- More than 200 students from the Uniondale School District recently celebrated a successful end of this year’s Summer Arts Program with a live performance encompassing the theme of What a Wonderful World. The performance featured Uniondale Summer Art Program students in grades 3-9 that currently participate in band, orchestra, dance, theater and visual arts during the academic year.

The students have spent their summer practicing their music, acting, dancing and art skills to help them further excel in school for the upcoming year. Students showcased the skills they learned this summer by performing a variety of instrumental and choral songs, dances, and skits surrounding the theme of What a Wonderful World; for parents and family in front of a colorful backdrop created by visual art students themselves.

Music students performed band and jazz pieces with a variety of musical instruments, including the flute, trumpet, percussion, violin and more. Dance students performed synchronized, choreographed dances of different genres that got the whole audience moving, and theater students displayed their acting skills with performances of original skits. Following the performance, parents, family and students enjoyed an original art exhibit in the lobby featuring work created by visual arts students that featured a large vibrant mural and hand- painted pianos.
