Lavine Supports Village of East Hills with Grant for New Sanitation Truck

EAST HILLS, NEW YORK – The Village of East Hills has a brand-new sanitation truck to add to its fleet thanks to a grant secured by Assemblymember Charles Lavine (D-North Shore). The $250,000 grant covers most of the cost of a state-of-the-art 2024 Battle Motors truck with Leach Alpha III rear loader with 20 cubic yard capacity. Syosset Trucks of Westbury, which managed the purchase and certified its readiness, considers it a top model offering many safety and convenience features and some top tech as well. Among its most appealing features are the low-entry cab design, making it easy for workers to get in and out; special protective hosing to keep harmful fluids from leaking and contaminating the environment; and cameras throughout the exterior along with monitors in the cab as an added safety feature that many trucks of this kind do not have. Lavine announced the grant as the village recently celebrated the 20^th anniversary of The Park at East Hills and honored outgoing Mayor Michael Koblenz.

“While The Park at East Hills may be Michael Koblenz’ enduring legacy, so will be his never-ending commitment to every aspect of daily life for East Hills residents; this includes the collection of sanitation, which is essential to ensuring public health is maintained,” Lavine said. “I am therefore very pleased to have secured this grant which will contribute to the quality of life for residents for years to come.”

Assemblymember Charles Lavine represents New York’s 13th Assembly District in Nassau County. He presently serves as Chair of the Judiciary Committee and is a member of the Committees on Codes, Ethics and Guidance, Insurance and Rules.
