LONG ISLAND, NY — Treating moms to brunch or dinner is one of the top ways to celebrate Mother's Day on Sunday, May 10, but to do that, you'll need to make reservations now at Long Island restaurants. Many spots across the Island are already at capacity.

  • Milleridge Inn will host a Mother's Day prix fixe brunch and dinner, as well as a grand buffet. The brunch menu includes options such as mini cheese and fruit, classic shrimp cocktail, chicken and waffles, steak and eggs, and specialty cocktails like a Bloody Mary, mimosa, and bellini.   • Jericho Terrace's Mother's Day event will have a continental breakfast station, Gold Coast station with salads, charcuterie spread, steak house carving station, build-your-own pasta station, seafood bar, and more. The National Retail Federation said its annual Mother’s Day survey shows 63 percent of respondents plan a special outing like dinner or brunch for Mother's Day. Behind flowers and greeting cards, a meal out is the third-most popular way to celebrate the holiday.

Americans are projected to spend approximately $6.4 billion on special outings and meals this year, a figure surpassed only by the $7.5 billion expected expenditure on jewelry, according to the survey.
