Nassau County Sweeps 2026 Long Island Boys Lacrosse Championships

Saturday, June 6, witnessed a sweep for Nassau County high schools in the 2026 Long Island Boys Lacrosse Championships held at Stony Brook University.

Massapequa High School scored a minimum five goals in each of the first three quarters of the game and cruised to a 19-6 victory over Suffolk County’s Sachem North High School in the Class A Championship. Massapequa junior midfielder/attackman Nolan Wieczorek tallied the most points (nine points with four goals and five assists) and received the game’s James C. Metzger MVP Award.

Leading 5-1 at halftime, Manhasset High School held on to defeat Smithtown East High School 10-9 in the Class B Championship. Manhasset freshman goalie Andrew Limberg, with 14 saves, received the game’s James C. Metzger MVP Award.

A close game in the Class C Championship favored Wantagh High School. The Warriors defeated Sayville High School 12-11. Wantagh senior midfielder Joe Nicholson, with four goals, received the game’s James C. Metzger MVP Award.

Cold Spring Harbor High School dominated its game from the opening faceoff and scored seven goals in the first quarter to defeat Bayport-Blue Point High School 17-12 in the Class D Championship. Cold Spring Harbor senior and co-captain midfielder/attackman Dylan Reilly, with six goals, received the game’s James C. Metzger MVP Award.

The MVP awards were presented by Long Island lacrosse all-stars and All-Americans James Pannell and Jack Concorran.

Pannell is a graduate of Smithtown West High School, where he was a two-time All-American and career points leader. He became an All-American at the University of Virginia and a Major League Lacrosse (MLL) All-Star. From Lindenhurst, Concannon is a graduate of St. Anthony’s High School in South Huntington and a multi-time All-American goalie at Hofstra University. He is a Major League Lacrosse and Premier Lacrosse League All-Star for New York Atlas Lacrosse Club of the Premier Lacrosse League (PLL).

A three-sport athlete at Half Hollow Hills East in Dix Hills, James C. Metzger received the 1977 Lt. Ray Enners Award for outstanding Suffolk County lacrosse player when he scored 102 points and received All-American honors. An All-American lacrosse player at Hofstra University, Metzger is the founder and chairman of Whitmore – The Agency, an insurance and financial services firm in Nassau County now known as Acrisure.
