Nassau Man Killed in Motorcycle Crash in Maine

The crash occurred Monday afternoon about 30 miles southwest of Portland, police say.

A 36-year-old Lynbrook man on a motorcycle ride from Maine to New Hampshire died after he swerved to avoid a vehicle and was thrown from the bike Monday afternoon, Maine State Police announced Tuesday.

Robert Locke lost control of his motorcycle on Route 111 in Alfred, about 30 miles southwest of Portland, police said. He was riding with a group on friends headed to Laconia, N.H., when he swerved to avoid a vehicle that turning onto Clark Road, police said.

Locke, who was wearing a helmet died shortly after arriving at Southern Maine Medical Center in Biddeford, police said.
