The Real Estate Institute at Stony Brook University Hosts Annual Spring Luncheon

The Real Estate Institute (REI) at Stony Brook University recently announced it will host its Annual Spring Luncheon on Tuesday, February 24

The Real Estate Institute (REI) at Stony Brook University recently announced it will host its Annual Spring Luncheon on Tuesday, February 24, at the Heritage Club at Bethpage, bringing together leading voices in commercial real estate, finance and law to examine how distinct CRE subsectors are evolving in todayโ€™s changing market. This yearโ€™s program, โ€œThe Great Reset: When CRE Subsectors Chart Their Own Course,โ€ will explore how office, retail, industrial, medical and multifamily properties are responding differently to shifts in capital markets, tenant demand, demographics and technology across Long Island and beyond. โ€œAs the commercial real estate landscape continues to evolve, broad market narratives no longer tell the full story,โ€ said Robert M. Gitto, Co-Chairperson of the Real Estate Institute at Stony Brook University and President of The Gitto Group. โ€œEach subsector is facing its own set of pressures and opportunities, and this luncheon is designed to give industry professionals a clearer understanding of how those dynamics are reshaping risk, investment, and long-term strategy.โ€

This yearโ€™s spring luncheon reaffirms REIโ€™s commitment to serving as a key educational resource for the Long Island business and real estate community. Through thoughtful programming and expert-driven dialogue, the Institute continues to provide a forum where industry leaders can exchange insights on the forces influencing development, financing, and regional growth.

โ€œOur mission has always been to connect professionals around the issues that matter most to the future of real estate on Long Island,โ€ said Kelley Coughlan Heck, Co-Chairperson of the Real Estate Institute at Stony Brook University and Managing Partner at TRITEC Real Estate Company. โ€œThis conversation reflects the reality that todayโ€™s market requires more nuanced thinking and understanding where subsectors are diverging and how stakeholders can position themselves accordingly.โ€

The luncheon will feature a distinguished panel including X. Cristofer Damianos, Principal at Damianos Realty Group, LLC; Bram Weber, Principal at Weber Law Group; Ray Ruiz, Managing Director at JLL; and Frank Korzekwinski, Senior Vice President at Flushing Bank. The discussion will be moderated by David Pennetta, Executive Managing Director at Cushman & Wakefield.

Together, panelists will examine why commercial real estate subsectors are no longer moving in lockstep and what that divergence means for investors, developers, municipalities and occupiers navigating the next phase of the market.

The Real Estate Institute encourages members of the business community, government officials, and media representatives to attend and engage in this timely discussion.
