SUFFOLK COUNTY, NY โ From national track performances to an undefeated start on the football field and a standout showing at the state chess championships, Suffolk County student-athletes continued to deliver strong results across a wide range of competitions.
Bay Shore Track Athletes Compete On National Stage
Bay Shore track and field athletes competed at two major national indoor competitions, delivering standout performances against some of the top high school athletes in the country.

Limel Smalls competed in the triple jump at the Nike High School Indoor National Championships, while Maggie McCormick ran at the New Balance High School Indoor Championships.
McCormick placed fourth in the 2-mile and sixth in the 1-mile, earning All-American honors for her performances.

Huntington Flag Football Opens Season 2-0
The Huntington girls varsity flag football team is off to its best start in program history, improving to 2-0 with a 13-6 win over Bay Shore following a 12-0 season-opening victory over Kings Park.
Against Bay Shore, the Blue Devils leaned on a strong defensive effort in a tightly contested game. Khi Casey threw a touchdown pass to Ariana Zavala and later connected again for another score. The teamโs ground game contributed 80 rushing yards, with Anabella Rafailan gaining 41 yards and Mikiyla Blizzard adding 23.
Defensively, Huntington recorded multiple standout performances. Kymora Dorvilus had 11 flag pulls, while Izabelle Colato recorded an interception returned for 20 yards. Amaya Scott added four flag pulls and a sack, and Andrea Reyes also contributed a sack.
Coach Malcolm Eugene praised the defense, noting its ability to generate pressure and turnovers. Rafailan was named MVP of the game for her contributions on both offense and defense.
In the season opener against Kings Park, Huntington rushed for 189 yards and controlled the game with a balanced attack. Timeyah Hardge and Rafailan each broke off long touchdown runs, while the defense held Kings Park to just three first downs.
Deer Park Freshman Earns State Chess Honor
Deer Park High School freshman Max Yevsyukov earned third place in his division at the 58th annual New York State High School Chess Championship, showcasing his strategic skill and discipline.

Yevsyukov has demonstrated consistent dedication to the game throughout the year, with chess playing a key role in both his academic development and personal growth.
โMax was very excited about this tournament, and we are very proud of him,โ guidance counselor Rachel Glaubach said.
