Uniondale School District Kicks Summer Off with STEAM Exploration Camp
The Uniondale School District recently held its annual Summer STEAM Camp at Walnut Street School. This year's camp focused on the theme "Creating Smart Homes Using Renewable Energy," offering students in grades 7 through 11 an exciting opportunity to delve into the world of sustainable technology.
"We are thrilled with the success of this year's Summer STEAM Camp," said Superintendent Dr. Monique Darrisaw-Akil. “Our scholars had the chance to learn about renewable energy and sustainable solutions when it comes to smart homes. They learned how to use cutting-edge technology programs while collaborating with their peers and gaining real-world skills that will serve them well in the future."
Throughout the week-long camp, participants engaged in a variety of hands-on projects aimed at exploring renewable energies, including solar, wind, hydro, and biofuel. From building model homes to integrating micro-electronics with Arduino, sensors, and solenoids, students delved deep into the practical applications of sustainable technology.
