GRANVILLE, NY – A 21-year-old upstate man was arrested for animal cruelty after he threw a kitten out a car window this week, State Police said.
Troopers assigned to the Granville Barracks charged 21-year-old Christopher J. Normile, of Dresden, after an investigation into the abandonment of a 4-week-old kitten along State Route 22 in the Town of Granville, police said.
On Tuesday, witnesses observed a person throw a kitten out of the window of a Chevrolet Silverado into the middle of State Route 22, police said. Witnesses were able to obtain a description of the vehicle and the driver and they relayed the information to troopers.

The witnesses, turned good Samaritans, brought the small kitten to the Granville Small Animal Hospital where it was treated. The orange kitten sustained only minor injuries.
An investigation identified Normile as the driven of the Chevrolet pickup, police said. On Friday, troopers located Normile driving on North Road in Dresden, police said.

A traffic stop was conducted and Normile was arrested under NYS Agriculture and Markets Law section 353, a class A misdemeanor related to animal cruelty. Normile is also facing a misdemeanor charge of second degree aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle due to his driver's license being suspended at the time of the traffic stop on North Road, police said.
