Woman High On Drugs Involved In Crash With 4-Year-Old In Her Car: Police

One person was hurt in the crash, which occurred in front of a Long Island McDonald's Tuesday morning.

SHIRLEY, NY โ€“ A 34-year-old woman was high on drugs with a 4-year-old boy in her car when she was involved in crash in Suffolk County Tuesday morning, police said.

According to Suffolk Police, Danielle Campione was driving a 2007 Nissan Altima and attempted to make a left turn out of the parking lot of the McDonaldโ€™s located at 971 Montauk Highway in Shirley at about 11:45 a.m. Her car was struck by a 2007 Hyundai Sonata that was traveling west on Montauk Highway.

The driver of the Hyundai, 34-year-old Imran Shabbir, of Moriches, was transported to Brookhaven Memorial Hospital in East Patchogue for treatment of minor injuries. Campione, of Mastic, and her 4-year-old passenger were not injured, police said.

Campione is charged with driving while ability impaired by drugs, aggravated DWI with a child passenger 15 years or younger (a felony under Leandraโ€™s Law) and endangering the welfare of a child. She was overnight at the Fourth Precinct for arraignment at First District Court Wednesday.

The child was released to a family member.
