Hi Patch readers! Sydney Pereira here — your new local editor for the Lower East Side and Chinatown.

I grew up on the East coast, with stints in Georgia and Virginia before moving to New York City in 2013. Currently, I live in the East Village. Before joining Patch, my work has been published in The Villager, Newsweek, The Miami Herald and ThinkProgress. I have a Bachelor's degree in journalism and global public health with a concentration in anthropology from New York University.

I'm excited to write about the Lower East Side and Chinatown and I hope you'll find Patch's neighborhood stories to be informative and impactful.
