New Lower East Side Restaurant Specializes in Upscale Comfort Food

LOWER EAST SIDE, NY — A new restaurant specializing in upscale comfort food and gourmet cocktails opened at the intersection of Clinton and Delancey Streets, The Lo-Down reports.

Clancey, a mash-up of Clinton and Delancey, recently opened at 79 Clinton St., where Yunnan Kitchen used to be. The Lo-Down reports the restaurant "nods to the Lower East Side’s history as a traditional landing point for Jewish and then Chinese immigrants.”

Diners can expect items such as truffle grilled cheese with asparagus and egg, char grilled oysters, bourbon-glazed shrimp, pork belly and a daily pickle jar. Entree prices range from $15-23.

The cocktails are unique and fun, such as the "Mangos on Fire" margarita with habanero and a Grilled Pineapple margarita.

Clancey was opened by Dennis Bogart of The Ainsworth, 121 Fulton Street and American Whiskey and Todd Birnbaum of Pinch - Pizza by the Inch, according The Lo-Down.

The restaurant is currently in it's "soft opening," so it's only open from 4 p.m. to midnight. Weekend brunch will be added later.
