Woman Sexually Assaulted In Her LES Apartment, Police Say

A woman was sexually assaulted by a stranger in her Lower East Side apartment, police said.

LOWER EAST SIDE, NY — A woman was sexually assaulted in her Lower East Side apartment early last Saturday, police said.

A woman, 23, was sitting on the steps in front of her building near Forsyth and Grand Sts. on the Lower East Side about 3 a.m. Saturday, March 30, police said.

A stranger walked up to her and started a conversation, police said.

The man then began groping her on the stairs — and when other residents were exiting the building, he was able to lead her into her apartment where he sexually assaulted her, police said.

The man fled the woman's bedroom when her roommate returned home, police said.

Police said the man is described as 5-foot 8, 150 pounds and was last seen wearing a black Adidas sweatshirt.
