4 Swastikas Carved On Tree Within Nassau School Grounds: Police
The person responsible for the bias incident out of South Lynbrook Junior High School has not been located, police said.
LYNBROOK, NY — Police are investigating swastikas on school grounds in Lynbrook on Thursday afternoon.
The principal at South Lynbrook Junior High School called the police to report a tree was carved with four swastikas and a racial slur in the back of the school, detectives said.
Lynbrook Mayor Alan Beach said in a Facebook post that "hate has absolutely no place in our community and hateful acts will absolutely not be tolerated in Lynbrook."

Each swastika measures approximately four inches by four inches.
"We want to be clear that these symbols and words have no place in our school, our community or our society," Lynbrook Schools Assistant Superintendent Paul Lynch said in a statement. "We must remember that this incident does not reflect who will are, what we value or what we stand for as a community."

Police are investigating, but anyone with information is urged to call the Nassau County Crime Stoppers at 1-800-244-TIPS.
Beach said he was expected to speak with the Lynbrook Fire Department on Friday.
