Arrest Made In West Hempstead Crash Where 6-Year-Old Was Killed: Cops
Jorge Bonilla Gutierrez faces counts that include manslaughter, assault and DWI, police say.

FREEPORT, NY — Police have made an arrest in the Monday morning crash in West Hempstead that killed a young girl.
Jorge Bonilla Gutierrez, 18, of Freeport, was placed in custody on Tuesday, authorities said.
Gutierrez is charged with second-degree manslaughter, second-degree vehicular manslaughter, second-degree assault, three counts of third-degree assault and DWI.

His arraignment was scheduled for Tuesday from his hospital bedside, police said.
Gutierrez is accused of speeding his SUV near the intersection of Hempstead Turnpike and Westminister Road just before 2:30 a.m. The vehicle slammed into a parked Toyota Corolla, police said.

A six-year-old passenger in the Toyota, Katerine Venegas-Hernandez, of West Hempstead, was killed in the crash, authorities said.
Four victims were hospitalized.
