Bailey, Callahan Re-elected to Malverne Village Trustee Seats

Bailey will serve a second term, while Callahan will serve a fourth.

Village Trustees  and , of the Independent Party, were re-elected to their seats on the Malverne Village Board Tuesday night.

After the polls closed at 9 p.m. election workers and representatives from both parties spent over 30 minutes tabulating the results. Around 9:40 p.m. Village Clerk and Elections Commissioner Teresa Emmel revealed them to the crowd of the candidates and their supporters assembled in the Malverne fire house. She indicated that Callahan received 888 votes, while Bailey captured 966 votes. Tea Party candidate . garnered 781 votes.

and  were also re-elected, however, they ran unopposed under the Independent Party. McDonald received 1,173 votes and while Dougherty had 1,145.

Callahan, who will serve his fourth term on the board, told Patch he was  "honored that Malverne re-elected him and looks forward to to serving on the board." He added, "I wish Hassett all the best."

McDonald, who coincidentally was celebrating her birthday, said she is "very happy that the Malverne Independent Party won and looks forward to serving the village."

She also wanted to thank all the residents for voting.

"It means a lot and I feel privileged to be mayor of Malverne again," she said.

This will be McDonald's second term as mayor and Bailey's second term as trustee.

"I am honored to be re-elected," Bailey said. "I look forward to serving the village four more years."
