The Mommy's Guide: Top Picks Tuesday Through Friday

This Weeks Top Picks Tuesday thou Friday! From The Mommy's Guide......

Hello EVERYBODDDDDDDY (I was channeling Grover there ... yeah, Sesame Street may be taking over my life). I hope everyone's weekend was as great as mine!

This weekend my husband and I got to go out, not once, BUT TWICE! My sister had an emergency need to see her nephew, and lives in Astoria, so we took the quick drive over there. Then we were kicked out. Not my son, just me and my husband.

So we walked over to the Astoria beer garden. It was awesome and I highly recommend it if you're in the area. During the day I hear it is really kid friendly also!

Then Saturday night we got to see The Avengers. Did you guys get to see it yet? As a huge dork of anything sci-fi or comic book related, the fact that we had to wait two weeks was almost too much, but well worth the wait. I recommend everyone going ASAP and make sure you see it in 3D!

Okay, okay, I am finally going to get to the point of this post, my top three picks for Tuesday through Friday.

Tuesday: Pottery Barn and Barnes and Noble both have story times today. Pottery Barn is at 11 a.m. and Barnes and Noble starts at 10 a.m. If you are in the area, or just need a reason to get into the area, these are both excellent reasons. If you haven't already, remember to sign your child up in the Barnes and Noble Kids club. You get discounts on certain books and your child will get a coupon and free cupcake on their birthday! It's actually a tradition for me to take my son on his birthday to Barnes and Noble, pick out books, eat the cupcake and then head over to Nunley's carousel. It's a great day.

Wednesday: Autoseum Open House, featuring the Batmobile from 1966 and other cars from different movies! I just found out about this and had to share. My husband and I actually went to an auto show years back that had these movie cars and it was fantastic. I am definitely going to be bringing the boy-child there and I hope you do too! Say "hello" if you see me! It runs from 10 a.m. - 3 p.m. and is located at 1000 County Seat Drive in Mineola. The event is free -- can't beat that!

Thursday is super exciting! It is the reopening of Lynbrook's Farmer's Market! Whoo hoo! It runs 7 a.m. - 1 p.m. in parking field 20 behind the Atlantic Avenue stores on Forest Avenue and Atlantic Avenue. I will be there reviewing it so make sure to say "hi." :)

Friday is the beginning of the long awaited Memorial Day weekend. My first pick for today is the Massapequa fair that is held at the LIRR Massapequa stop on Sunrise Highway. My second pick for today is something I cannot really confirm exists, although I KNOW I have heard about it and read about it. As we all know Memorial Day means not only parades and BBQs, but also the Bethpage Air Show at Jones Beach. I know, but cannot confirm via the Internet that if you take a drive out to the beach you can see them practicing their moves! I think we may take the drive out there just so I can confirm that this is true. If anyone else goes, or knows that this happens from experience let me know! Thanks!

That's it for this week remember to check back on Friday when I will post my weekend's top picks. As always check out the website www.themommysguide.com for all listings, reviews (right now we have a great on on the Lido Beach Preserve) and list of parks, playplaces and low-cost and free museums! If you have an event please make me aware and I will post it asap. So until then, spend your time wisely!
