Candidates Cast Their Votes in Malverne Village Election [Photos]
Dr. Carol Hassett and Patricia Canzoneri-Callahan hit the polls Tuesday.
We won't know who the winner will be in Tuesday's special village election in Malverne until polls close at 9 p.m., but both candidates made sure to cast their votes at the fire house today.
Dr. Carol Hassett, of the Common Sense Party, hit the polls early this morning to cast her ballot. Patricia Canzoneri-Callahan, of the Malverne Independent Party, stepped into the voting booth shortly after 4 p.m. joined by her four children. (Her youngest, Christina, asked to pull the lever.)
Canzoneri-Callahan's brother, Stephen, and parents, mother Judy and father Joseph Canzoneri, a former Malverne mayor, cast their votes shortly after.

Deputy Mayor Joseph Hennessy - who celebrates his birthday today - also voted during the 'evening rush.'
As of 3:30 p.m., more than 500 Malvernites had voted in the election, which will decide who will serve a three-year term on the village Board of Trustees, taking over the seat of the late Jim Callahan.
