Cops: Long Island Mother Broke Daughter's Arm With Broomstick
The 10-year-old complained to her teachers about an injury on Monday, police say.

A Hempstead woman hit her 10-year-old daughter with a broomstick on Sunday, breaking the child’s arm, police said.
Chriscelle Andrews, 53, was arrested on Monday and charged with second degree assault and endangering the welfare of a child.
According to police, while at school on Monday, Andrews’s daughter complained to her teachers about an injury to her elbow and hand, both of which showed “obvious swelling,” police said.

An investigation by the school administration and Child Protective Services determined that the child had been hit with a broomstick by her mother at about 9 p.m. Sunday, police said.
The child, accompanied by Child Protective Services, was transported to an area hospital where she was found to have sustained a fracture to her arm, police said. She was treated and released to a care provider for the family under the direction of CPS.

Upon responding to the school, Andrews was placed under arrest, police said. She will be arraigned in First District Court in Hempstead on June 9.
