Cops: West Hempstead Man Took Money for Phony Tax Services

Man claimed he was a manager at Greenline Energy LLC, took cash from victim to get rid of tax penalties, cops said.

A West Hempstead man faces charges after claiming he could remove tax penalties and taking money for the service, according to Nassau County Police.

Patrick Uzoefune, 55, convinced another man he was a manager for Greenline Energy LLC and could remove the victim’s tax penalties, cops said.

The 47-year-old victim paid Uzoefune, who deposited a check into his personal bank account for $3,500, police said. The victim had given Uzoefune two other checks whose value was not disclosed, cops said.

Police charged Uzoefune with third-degree grand larceny. He will be arraigned at First District Court in Hempstead on Thursday.
