Police ID Off-Duty NYPD Officer Killed In Nassau Crash
Police say the 31-year-old officer was on his way to work when he involved in a two-car crash and was pushed off the road and into a tree.
UPDATE, 4:40 P.M.: Nassau County police have identified the officer who died as Vincent Persaud, 31.
ORIGINAL STORY: An off-duty New York Police Department officer died in a car crash in Lynbrook Wednesday morning.
According to police, the officer and another driver were involved in a crash at the intersection of Peninsula Boulevard and Hempstead Avenue at 6:48 a.m. Lynbrook police say that the officer's car went off the road and hit a tree.

The officer, who has not been identified, was taken to Long Island Jewish Medical Center in Valley Stream, where he died from his injuries. The other driver was not seriously injured.
Police say the incident is still under investigation, but do not suspect any criminality at this time. The NYPD said the officer was on his way to work when the crash occurred.
