Four Arrested in Nassau, Queens Heroin Bust After Fatal Overdose: Police

BREAKING: Police say the arrests included a dealer who had more than 130 envelopes of heroin on him.

A death from a heroin overdose led to police making arrests for the sale of narcotics on Long Island. According to detectives, in response to a fatal heroin overdose that occurred in Malverne on Thursday, Dec. 22 and a non-fatal heroin overdose that occurred on Friday, Dec. 23, detectives were able to obtain information to conduct a “buy” operation in Port Washington, Valley Stream and Woodside, Queens.

According to police, on Monday at approximately 6:10 p.m., at an undisclosed location in Port Washington, Jacklyn Seitz, 21, of Doris Avenue, Franklin Square, and Ata Korkut, 26, of the same address, sold heroin to one another. At 8:50 p.m. that same night, police say, while at an undisclosed location in Valley Stream, Seitz, Korkut and Scott Moser, 28, of Rockaway Avenue, Valley Stream, sold more heroin to another person. At that time, all three were placed under arrest without incident.

During the arrest, information regarding the source of the heroin was obtained from the three, and at 10:55 p.m. that same night, at an undisclosed location in Woodside, a “buy & bust” operation was conducted resulting in the arrest of Jemaly Thelusma, 27, of 187th Street, Hollis, Queens. At the time of his arrest, police say Thelusma was in possession of 130 glassine envelopes of heroin.

Seitz and Korkut are both being charged with two counts of third-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance and two counts of third-degree criminal sale of a controlled substance.

Moser is charged with seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance and fourth-degree criminal facilitation.

Thelusma is charged with third-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance and third-degree criminal sale of a controlled substance.

All defendants were arraigned in First District Court in Hempstead on Tuesday.
