Jan. 13: Schools Reopen, 'Chop Shop' Cooking Class

Important information in Lynbrook for Thursday.

Happy Thursday, everyone. Snow is still on the ground, but it's not making headlines like yesterday. Here are five things of interest in Lynbrook today.

1 — Today's temperature will be about 30 degrees, with a light wind, according to the National Weather Service. Thursday night will be very cold, with a low at around 18 degrees.

2 — Schools are open again. The Lynbrook School District is operating on a regular schedule after closing for the snow yesterday. Check the district website to see which school events/meetings might have been postponed.

3 — Are you a clutz in the kitchen? Head down to on Atlantic Avenue for a "Chop Shop" cooking class. From 6-8 p.m., owner Polly Talbot will teach you how to prepare vegetables, herbs, fruit, and a mean Gazpacho! Also learn how to use and care for your knives.

4 — We'll have a story on the business of the Lynbrook library board, which met on Tuesday.

5 — A new mystery photo will be up on the site later today. Keep an eye out and you may be the first to guess and win a prize!
