Letter to the Editor: Gogarty Elected to Village Board
East Rockaway Trustee speaks out after Tuesday's election.

It’s an honor and a privilege to have been elected to the East Rockaway Village Board. To the 723 people who came to the polls to cast their ballot for me, I’m humbled and thankful for your support. Working with Mayor Fran Lenahan and the Village Board, we’ve stayed true to our promises for the community.
Thanks to our leadership, and as promised, East Rockaway cut village property taxes last year while also eliminating six-figure patronage jobs costing homeowners hundreds of thousands of dollars a year. We also instituted a hard, $99,000 salary cap for appointed village employees.
Coupled with expanding the East Rockaway Recreation Program and opening the new John Street complex, my colleagues and I ensured the Village DPW was fully operational with the delivery of new, modern equipment to repair our streets and infrastructure.
And there’s more work to be done. You have my word that I will continue to work for the betterment of our East Rockaway while never losing sight of the hard working homeowners, families and seniors who make up our wonderful Village.
RICHARD GOGARTY SR.
