Longtime Malverne BOE Member Honored As She Retires

Marguerite "Peg" O'Connor is stepping down after 38 years on the board.

From Malverne Union Free School District: At its June 12 meeting, the Malverne Union Free School District’s Board of Education and administration honored longstanding and retiring board member Marguerite “Peg” O’Connor. After 38 years as serving on the board of education, 10 of which she served as president, Mrs. O’Connor was honored for her dedication and commitment to the students and community of Malverne with a special plaque of recognition.

“We will miss her wealth of experience,” said President Josephine Bottitta. “She has been such an asset to this community.”

In her final remarks, Mrs. O’Connor thanked her family, as well as district staff and administrators. “Most of all, I need to thank Dr. James Hunderfund,” she said. “He saw my vision and brought it to life. I’m extremely proud of the way our district looks and all of the achievements our kids have earned.”
