Lynbrook Named One Of The Safest Towns In New York
It was among only six Long Island towns that made the list.

The Village of Lynbrook was one of six Long Island towns that were recently named among the safest in New York by National Council for Home Safety and Security.
To come up with the listings, the organization reviewed the latest FBI crime statistics, along with its own population and research data. Any cities that didn't submit complete crime reports to the FBI were eliminated, as well as any cities with populations under 5,000.
The remaining cities were ranked basked on violent and property crimes per every 100,000 people. Violent crimes made up 70 percent of the score, while property crimes were the other 30. The numbers were then adjust to show the crime rates per 1,000 people.
