Lynbrook to Hold Annual 9/11 Ceremony

Village to honor 20 residents killed in attacks nine years ago.

The Village of Lynbrook will hold its annual 9/11 commemoration ceremony on Saturday at 6 p.m. at the 9/11 Memorial at Village Hall. Village officials will honor the 20 Lynbrook residents that were killed in the Sept. 11, 2001 attacks.

The ceremony will begin with the Pledge of Allegiance, led by Lynbrook's fire and police chiefs. That is to be followed by the National Anthem, and, after that, words from Rabbi Glenn Jacob of Temple Am Echad in Lynbrook. Village Trustee Alan Beach will conduct the welcome, which is followed by the reading of victims' names.

Each Lynbrook resident that was killed on 9/11 has a memorial stone at the village memorial. During the reading of the names, victims' families, escorted by Lynbrook Junior Volunteer Firefighters, will lay flowers at the stones. This portion of the ceremony is followed by a moment of silence.
A pipe band will perform "Amazing Grace," and Beach will conclude the ceremony.
