Malverne School District Sets Vote for $19.7 Million Bond

At the Aug. 23 meeting of the Malverne School District’s board of education, the board approved a proposition to present the community with a $19.7 million bond that would expand facilities to accommodate curriculum needs.

The bond proposition will include a small theater, music wing, STEM labs and baseball field upgrades at the high school; bathroom and cafeteria upgrades at the middle school; music and art upgrades and air conditioning in the cafeteria at Davison Avenue; and a multipurpose room extension and ventilation, cafeteria and bathroom upgrades to Maurice W. Downing Primary School.

A full list of projected projects, as well as renderings of the music wing and theater expansion at the high school, will be available on the district’s website when they’re available.

“In the past ten years, this board has really made an effort to prioritize its infrastructure and protect the community’s investment in its schools and students,” said Board of Education President John Tulley. “We need to keep that momentum going and this bond will really take the curriculum we can offer our students to that next level and provide us with the facilities to match their growing potential.”

Residents will be asked to vote on the proposed bond on Wednesday, Nov. 16 at the Howard T. Herber Auditorium. More information on registering to vote, where to vote and all up-to-date-information on the bond can be found by visiting www.malverne.k12.ny.us.
