Nassau Man Arrested for Assaulting 91-Year-Old Man: Police
BREAKING: Police say he was behind a violent outburst at a medical center as well Thursday morning.
A West Hempstead man was arrested after police say he had a violent outburst at a health facility then assaulted a 91-year-old man Thursday morning.
According to detectives, officers received a call to Northwell Health Outpatient Rehab Facility, located at 600 Hempstead Turnpike in West Hempstead, at 10:40 a.m. for a violent man who was banging his head against a wall. Police say they received second call for an assault in progress on Euston Road South while responding to the assignment.
A responding officer, along with a Nassau County ambulance technician, saw Devin Tanner, 38, of Maren Street, West Hempstead, walking northbound on Euston Road South. Police say they identified Tanner as the person behind both incidents.

The person who was assaulted, a 91-year-old man, was located at his home. Tanner had allegedly approached the man and punched him in the face, causing injuries which were treated at scene. Tanner also allegedly punched the man’s front door, causing more than $500 in damage.
Tanner was charged with second-degree assault and third-degree criminal mischief. He was taken to Nassau University Medical Center for evaluation and will be arraigned when practical.
