Man Pulled Out Gun To Threaten Driver: Nassau Police

Police say the man was driving around with a loaded handgun on his passenger seat.

A West Hempstead man was arrested on Monday night after police say he pulled out a handgun during an argument with another driver.

According to police, Fidel Gomez, 52, of Ivy Street, pulled out a handgun during a dispute with another driver 8:50 p.m., and then left the scene.

Police say that officers then saw Gomez driving his 2007 Honda Odyssey and pulled him over in front of his home. During the investigation, police say they saw a handgun in the passenger seat. Gomez was placed under arrest without incident, and the handgun and a loaded magazine were recovered.

Gomez is charged with second-degree criminal possession of a weapon. He is scheduled to be arraigned in First District Court in Hempstead on Tuesday.
