Man Released Horse From Belmont, Leading To Its Death: Police
Police say the man, a former employee, was trespassing when he released the 2-year-old horse from its stall.
ELMONT, NY — An Elmont man was arrested on July 31 after police say he released a horse from the Belmont Race Track, which led to the horse's death.
According to police, at 7:45 p.m. on July 30, Ramzan Antooa, 38, of Hempstead turnpike, Elmont, who was a former employee of the Belmont Race Track, was seen by security releasing a 2-year-old female horse from her stall. The horse fell when it reached street pavement, which caused it to suffer fatal injuries.
Police say that Antooa was not supposed to be inside the barn. He was arrested on July 31.

Antooa is charged with third-degree burglary and reckless endangerment of property. He was arraigned on July 31 and released on his own recognizance. He is due back in court on Sept. 21.
