Men Forced Nassau Homeowner To Open Safe In Occupied Burglary

Police say they emptied the cash from the safe before fleeing the scene in a car.

Two armed men broke into a home in Franklin Square on Friday night and forced the man living there to give them his money, police say.

According to police, the two men entered a home on Madison Avenue just before midnight on Dec. 28, one carrying a crow bar and the other a silver handgun. Police say they confronted the 45-year-old man living in the home and demanded he open his safe.

The man opened the safe, and the burglars took cash from it, and then also stole two cell phones from the home. The men entered a dark four-door BMW and fled the scene west on Hempstead Turnpike.
