Nassau Man Arrested Shortly After Robbing Bank: Police

Police say he robbed the bank and fled with cash, but didn't get to enjoy it for very long.

A Baldwin man as arrested on Tuesday and charged with robbing a bank in Lynbrook earlier that afternoon.

According to police, Gordon Pierre Delva, 28, of Darling Street, walked into the Bethpage Federal Credit Union at 613 Sunrise Highway just after noon. Police say he passed the teller a note demanding money, and the teller gave Delva an undisclosed amount of cash.

Delva fled on foot, police say, and was found a short time later near Peninsula Boulevard and Langdon Place by Lynbrook police officers. He was arrested without incident.

There were 10 employees and four customers in the bank at the time of the robbery. No one was injured.

Delva was charged with third-degree robbery. He is scheduled to be arraigned on Wednesday in First District Court in Hempstead.
