Nassau Man Injures Officer, Causes Multiple Accidents: Police

Police say the man stole a car, ran over an officers foot and drove into a house before he was arrested.

An Elmont man was arrested early Saturday morning after police say he stole a car, injured an officer and caused multiple accidents.

It all started when Iuemhetep White, 21, of Holland Avenue, was in a collision on Wellington Road in Elmont around 5:30 a.m. while driving a white BMW, and then fled the scene, police say. Officers saw the car White was driving near the accident site. Police say that White ignored the officers' commands to get out of the car, and instead drove off, running over the foot of one of the officers in the process.

About 10 minutes later, police say, officers responded to a 911 call for a car crashing into a house on Ludlum Avenue. By the time the officers arrived, police say White had abandoned the car and fled the scene on foot.
At 7:07 p.m. Saturday night, a stolen car report was filed for the white BMW. An investigation led officers to White's home, where he was arrested at 7:47 p.m. without further incident.
