Nassau Man Led Cops On Chase After Traffic Stop: Police
Police say the man, who had an open warrant out for him, fled after officers pulled him over for a routine traffic stop.

A Freeport man was arrested in Elmont Saturday night after he led officers on a car chase, police say.
According to police, officers on patrol saw a 2009 Nissan Altima make a right turn from a left lane and head east on Hemsptead Turnpike just before midnight on Saturday. The officers pulled the car over, but during the stop, police say the driver, Jabori Gibson, 27, of Casino Street, fled the scene south on Terrace Avenue.
While fleeing from the officers, police say Gibson drove onto a dead-end street and turned around. As he was heading back, he struck a parked car and a police officer's car, police say, causing damage to all the cars. He headed east on Hempstead Turnpike and struck a utility pole, police said, and then came to a stop against a stone wall.

Gibson got out of the car and fled on foot, police said. He was located in the back yard of a home on Meacham Avenue after a brief search and placed under arrest. No one was injured.
Gibson is charged with third-degree criminal mischief, two counts of second-degree reckless endangerment, third-degree unlawful fleeing of a police officer, second-degree aggravated unlicensed operation and multiple vehicle and traffic law violations. He also had an open warrant from the state Department of Corrections and Community Supervision. He will be arraigned in First District Court in Hempstead at a later date, police said.
