Unions to Rally Against Mangano Legislation
Several thousand union members from the Civil Service Employees Association, the Nassau County Police Benevolent Association, Nassau Superior Officers Association, Nassau Detectives Association, Nassau Sheriff Officers Association, the Long Island Federation of Labor, the New York State AFL-CIO and various law enforcement unions both county and statewide will be holding a rally outside of the Theodore Roosevelt Executive and Legislative Building in Mineola on Monday starting at 11:30 a.m.
The unions are claiming that Mangano's Fiscal Crisis Reform Act "is a violation of the United States Constitution, and threatens the well-beings of thousands of union members and retirees on Long Island." The groups will also be rallying against county layoffs.
