Nassau Police Seek Public's Help in Fatal Hit-and-Run

An 84-year-old man died after being hit by a car that fled the scene in Lynbrook earlier this month.

Nassau Police are asking for the public’s help to find a hit-and-run driver who struck and killed an 84-year-old man in Lynbrook earlier this month.

On Tuesday, police released a photo of what the car may look like. It is not the actual car that was involved in the crash, police said.

According to police, an unidentified man was crossing Merrick Road from north to south when he was struck by a car in front of 130 Merrick Road near McDonald’s at 9:07 p.m. on Dec. 3. The man was pronounced dead at the scene. Police say the car that fled eastbound was gold colored, possibly a Ford or Lincoln Mercury.
