New Group to Meet at Library, Friends Make Donations

Lynbrook library board holds monthly meeting to discuss library business.

The Lynbrook Public Library Board of Trustees met on Jan. 11 to discuss donations made by the Friends of the Lynbrook Public Library, the Lewy Bone Dementia Association, and also necessary building repairs.

Friends of the Library Donations

The new curved tables coupled with multi-colored chairs were donated to the children’s department by the Friends of the Lynbrook Public Library, a volunteer group that helps raise money to support the library. The new additions will certainly bring smiles to the faces of many boys and girls who will use the tables to play games, solve puzzles, read books and draw.

Building Repairs Needed

Trustees discussed the latest repairs that need to be made at the library, which include the floor tiles by the library entrance. Library Director Robyn Gilloon said the tiles are separating from the cement.

“I can stand on the bubble and it doesn’t go down," she said. "You can hear the floor making crunching sounds."

A contractor is scheduled to visit to evaluate the floor. In addition to the tiles, the library needs a new roof, back door and carpeting.

The next library board meeting will be held on Tuesday, Feb. 8 at 7:30 p.m.
