New Technology Brings 3D Imagery Into West Hempstead Classrooms

WEST HEMPSTEAD, NY — Students in one local school district are getting more technology for learning.
The West Hempstead School District added zSpace to its list of 21st-century resources.
For the past few weeks, teachers got a crash course on the hardware and the web-based site.

zSpace offers various lessons and activities for all grades. The software incorporates virtual/augmented reality to display 3D images.
Using a stylus, tracking glasses and a combination of sensors, students can manipulate images.

zSpace gives students views that they wouldn't have in a traditional classroom. For example, students can maneuver a camera to look inside the chamber of a heart.
"Watching the expression of our students using zSpace was priceless," said JoeCangemi, the district’s STEM director. "They were in awe over what they were learning, and they just wanted more. This is just one out of many reasons that make the West HempsteadSchool District a premiere educational learning facility that offers students endless pathways to learning."
The state-of-the-art zSpace programs were unveiled recently for West Hempstead students.
