Swastika Found Carved Into Sidewalk In Front Of Nassau Business
Officials say it has likely been there for years and never noticed. It's the second such carving found this month.

Nassau police are investigating a swastika that was found carved into the ground in front of a business in East Rockaway on Sunday.
According to police, a pedestrian was walking on the sidewalk and found a swastika carved into the driveway apron in front of 436 Atlantic Ave. It appeared the swastika had an extra line added to it.
"Hempstead Town is a community of religious diversity and tolerance. I was appalled to learn about the discovery of a swastika on a driveway apron in East Rockaway this afternoon," said Hempstead Town Councilman Anthony D'Esposito, who represents the area. "Although it appears that the etching has been there for approximately two years, it is important that anyone with any information comes forward. Our township is home to those who endured the horror of Nazi death camps and many who fought the atrocities of the Nazi regime. There is no place in our communities for this symbol of hatred and intolerance."
