Trio Robbed, Beat Man Outside Of Deli: Police

When the man tried to get his bag back, police say the three attacked him.

Three people were arrested Monday after police say they robbed and attacked a man outside of a deli in West Hempstead earlier in the morning.

According to police, a 21-year-old man was leaving the Cherry Valley Deli, located at 168 Hempstead Turnpike, at 2:35 a.m., when he realized he left his bag inside the deli. As he was walking back in to get it, the man saw someone else walking out carrying his bag and get into the passenger side of a black SUV.

The victim confronted the man and tried to get his bag back. The driver of the SUV and another passenger started punching the victim, police say, but the man was able to pull his bag away. The three poeple then got out of teh car and continued beating the victim, police say, taking money from his pants pocket, then fleeing. The man refused medical assistance.

After an investigation, police arrested George Jordan-Gonzales, 24, of Potter Lane, Levittown, at 8:49 p.m. that day in West Hempstead. The driver, Karina Colato, 22, of the same address, and Aaron Moodie, 17, of Glow Lane, Hicksville, surrendered themselves to police at 10:30 p.m.

All three are charged with second-degree robbery, and were arraigned on Tuesday in First District Court in Hempstead.
