Two Arrested After Beating, Robbing Man On Street: Police

BREAKING: Police say the pair followed the man out of a restaurant and then robbed him.

Two men were arrested after they beat and robbed a man in Elmont early Monday morning, police said.

According to police, a 24-year-old man was using the ATM inside Crown Fried Chicken, located at 492 Hemsptead Turnpike in Elmont when Terrence McBride, 19, of Roquette Avenue, Elmont, and Savonn M. Dangerfield, 20, of Front Street, Hempstead, approached and asked what he was doing. Police say the two followed the man out of the restaurant to the corner of Elmont Road and Hempstead Turnpike, where they demanded his money. When he didn't turn it over, police say the two began punching and kicking the man, causing him to fall to the ground. Police say the two then went through the man's pockets and stole two iPhones, a yellow gold chain, credit cards and an undetermined amount of cash. The man suffered swelling and bruises on his face.

After an investigation, police located the two men walking near Pelham Street and Louis Avenue and arrested them without incident. Both are charged with second-degree robbery and second-degree assault. McBride is additionally charged with possession of marijuana. They are scheduled to be arraigned in First District Court in Hempstead on Tuesday.
