Valley Stream 24 Students Hold Holiday Food Drive for Those in Need
William L. Buck School Student Council representatives led a food drive through November and December
During this holiday season, students at William L. Buck School in the Valley Stream 24 School District exemplified the spirit of giving by dedicating their time to assist both the broader Long Island community and their own local neighbors. Under the leadership of teachers Marissa Campo and Christine Iadevaio, the Student Council initiated a food drive spanning the months of November and December to provide essential support to those in need. While a portion of the donations will be directed to Island Harvest, the remaining contributions will be personally delivered to local families by district staff.
Superintendent of Schools Unal Karakas emphasized the significance of this compassionate effort, stating, "This time of the year prompts us to reflect on what we are grateful for and to consider how we can make a difference in the lives of those less fortunate within our own community. I am immensely proud of our students and staff for their generosity and unwavering dedication to ensuring that families have every reason to celebrate."
