VIDEO: West Hempstead Enjoys Sounds of Summer

The music of Elvis, The Beatles and Etta James filled the ball field at Echo Park in West Hempstead Sunday night as the community's free concert series continued.

The New York Connection, a cover band hailing from Floral Park, entertained with upbeat and slow tempo hits from the 50s, 60s and 70s.

The performance was part of a three-concert series sponsored by the West Hempstead Community Support and Civic Association and Astoria Federal Savings Bank.

It kicked off earlier this month with the North Shore Pops and will wrap up on Aug. 7 at 6:30 p.m. with The Usual Suspects.
