Weekend Nassau Burglaries Appears To Be Same Man: Police

One store was burglarized early Saturday in Franklin Square. The other was an attempted burglary, police say.

FRANKLIN SQUARE, NY —A pair of weekend burglaries have police on the lookout.

A man broke the front glass door of a CardSmart store on Dogwood Avenue in Franklin Square. It happened just before 3 a.m. on Saturday. The ATM machine was removed, along with a laptop, lottery tickets and cartons of cigarettes, police said.

He fled in a dark-colored SUV.

During the overnight hours on Sunday, officers responded to Quick Value Deli and Grocery on Franklin Avenue in North Valley Stream. The male victim, 60, heard a long bang and saw the front door shattered before taking off on foot, detectives said.

In both incidents, police said the men fit similar descriptions.
