West Hempstead Kicks Off Free Concerts

Grab your lawn chairs and some friends as the free outdoor concert series has started in West Hempstead.

On Sunday evening several families gathered at the Little League Baseball Field next door to Echo Park to delight in the sounds of the North Shore Pops Concert Band.

The group kicked off the first of three nights of live entertainment co-sponsored this year by the West Hempstead Community Support and Civic Association and Astoria Federal Savings Bank.

They performed a number of classic songs for their audience. Check out the photos and video above.

Up next is The New York Connection, who will take to the stage at the field located at 401 Nassau Blvd. on July 24, followed by The Usual Suspects on Aug. 7. All performances start at 6:30 p.m.
