West Hempstead Woman Arraigned On Tax Fraud Charges: Prosecutors

Cynthia Ciaccio owes more than $49,000 in back taxes from 2017 through 2020, the Nassau County D.A. announced.

MINEOLA, NY — A West Hempstead woman was arraigned on charges stemming from failing to pay income taxes from 2017 to 2020, prosecutors said.

Cynthia Ciaccio, 62, was arraigned on Tuesday, Nassau County District Attorney Anne Donnelly said.

Ciaccio owned more than $49,000 in back taxes during that three-year period, Donnelly announced.

"This defendant allegedly evaded her tax obligations for four years while collecting more than $400,000 in annual income and failed to submit income tax returns that honest taxpayers diligently and reliably file every year," Donnelly said.

Ciacco pleaded not guilty and was released on her own recognizance. She is due back in court on April 19, 2023.

If convicted of the top count, she faces up to 2-1/3 to 7 years in prison, Donnelly said.
