• Town of Oyster Bay Partners With Community Group to Collect Peanut Butter (longisland.com) — Massapequa residents can directly help neighbors in need by dropping off new, sealed peanut butter and similar spreads at Town Hall South on Hicksville Road from October 1 through November 15. The Town of Oyster Bay and the Massapequa Farmingdale Men's Club are teaming up to restock local food pantries, with additional collection sites in Oyster Bay and Bethpage during regular business hours.
   

• Massive Long Island high school football showdown rescheduled due to nor'easter (usatoday.com) — Massapequa football fans should know that the highly anticipated matchup against Garden City has been pushed from Saturday to Monday at 5 p.m. at Hofstra's Shuart Stadium because of an approaching nor'easter. All Nassau and Suffolk County Saturday high school games are being moved to Monday, but Friday games remain on, as both undefeated programs put long winning streaks on the line.
